Ahmedabad Blasts

Atleast 6 bomb Blasted in Ahmedabad at various places.



All the crowded places have been affected most. Following the Bangalore blasts, this is the series of blasts happening in India. Back to back blasts.

Though bangalore blasts does not have such impact in terms of number of persons killed, Ahmedabad blasts will have more stake in lives.

Bomb blast in Ahmedabad, 13 injured



A powerful bomb blast at a platform in the Ahmedabad Railway Station has injured 13 people.

The blast ripped open the roof of platform number two at around 0145 hours on Sunday morning.

"I heard a loud blast. It was not a cylinder blast because there was no fire. It was an explosion and there was a lot of smoke," tea stall owner in the railway station, Babu Devda said.

The injured have been shifted to VS Hospital in Ahmedabad and the condition of one of them is said to be serious.

Commandant of Railway Protection Force, R K Singh, said, "Everybody is in a state of shock. There was a goods train in platform number three and so luckily the damage has been less."

Director General of Police AK Bhargava said, that no organisation has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.

The police say that high-end explosives like RDX or gelatin sticks were probably used in the blast. Bhargava however, clarified that it was not a "crude device".

The city is on a high alert and the police is maintaining a tight vigil in the major cities of Gujarat.

Eight low-intensity blasts


Eight low-intensity blasts have taken place in Ahmedabad. The blasts happened in Maninagar, Isanpur, Narol circle, Bapunagar, Hatkeshwar and Sarnagpur Bridge.

In Bapunagar the blast took place outside the railway station while one of the blast took place inside a bus. Some of the bombs were reportedly planted on bicycles. The blasts occurred at about 1840 hrs IST.

Maninagar is the Assembly constituency of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Initial reports say about 20 people have been taken injured and six have been taken to the civil hospital from Mani Nagar area.

However, Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed about only three blasts.

A black coloured Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle has been found abandoned near the blast site in Mani Nagar.
